Happy Spooky Season! We all know how much I love Fall, so when Shannon and Jake floated the idea of shooting their engagement session at Rochester’s infamous Mount Hope Cemetery, I was so down! The Victorian-style architecture and dreamy autumn colors were a match made in heaven for this spooky cemetery engagement session.
My sister, April, and I share a special bond over Starbucks pumpkin drinks. Throughout high school, you could find us studying at Starbucks pretty much every day of the week. As we became regulars, we started to mingle with the staff and met Shannon! My favorite barista and I shared bits and pieces of our personal lives. She learned about my photography business and quickly became a loyal supporter! We love a full-circle moment. Shannon and Jake, April and I can’t wait to shoot your wedding this October!
Not only did Shannon and Jake opt for a cemetery engagement session, they were also engaged in Salem, Massachusetts. The city of Salem is famous for the Salem Witch Trials in 1692. Now the town is now a destination for those seeking a spooky good time! And, of course, it wouldn’t be Shannon and Jake’s wedding if it wasn’t in October. So, if you can’t tell, these two are the spookiest!
During Shannon and Jake’s cemetery engagement session, my eyes were opened to the cemetery’s remarkable history and beauty. This location is home to over 350,000 Rochesterians and Mount Hope Cemetery has been serving the community for over 175 years. Susan B. Anthony and Frederick Douglass, including other famous residents, share Mount Hope Cemetery as their final and forever resting place. Spooky? A little. Awesome? A lot.
Thank you, Jake and Shannon, for pushing me out of my comfort zone and showing me a new session location! This cemetery engagement session will go down in history for me! You two are the absolute sweetest and I can’t wait to see you in October for your wedding. Cheers, witches!
