Now starring Diana Meyer in Mrs. New York America! Never did I think I’d meet a real-life Princess Diana, but here she is. Diana and I have worked together before, but when she asked me to help her shoot promotional photos for her candidacy as Mrs. New York America, I was over the moon! It’s been so hard to keep these photos a secret. Now that the news is out, I’m ecstatic to be sharing her beauty with you!
Diana began her pageant journey with National American Miss (NAM) when she received a letter in the mail. After attending a NAM training course, she was enamored by the poise, confidence, and leadership skills that the reigning titleholders embodied. It was in that moment, Diana knew she wanted to compete in pageants. In 2013, Diana was a Top Ten Finalist at the NAM New York Teen title. She returned in 2014 and won the National American Miss New York Teen title. National American Miss is a pageant for girls and young adults interested in personal development. She then proceeded to the national pageant in Anaheim, California.
After Diana’s year of service in 2014, her pageant career continued within the historic Miss America Organization. After countless local competitions, Diana finally won Miss Finger Lakes 2018. She gained her lead after winning the talent portion of competition at Miss Finger Lakes. Coming from a long line of musicians in her family, Diana was proud to perform a memorized rendition of The Carnival of Venice on her flute. She went on to compete at Miss New York and was a Top Ten Finalist. Miss New York 2018, Nia Franklin, went on to win Miss America that year.
While competing in Miss America, Diana earned over $3,000 in scholarship dollars, helping to fund her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. John Fisher University. Miss America originated over 100 years ago and it is the number one scholarship provider for women in the United States.
Diana’s dream of representing the United States grew even fonder after marrying her husband Josh in October 2020. After competing in two premiere pageants as a teen and miss, there was no doubt in Diana’s mind that she would participate in the elite pageant for married women, Mrs. America.
Nine months into her marriage, Diana won Mrs. New York American 2021. As the youngest contestant at Mrs. American, Diana was honored to secure a spot as a Top 15 Finalist. The Mrs. America Pageant selects two married women to represent their state – Mrs. New York America and Mrs. New York American. Mrs. NY America competes at Mrs. America and Mrs. NY American competes at Mrs. American. This unique opportunity allows Diana to compete at Mrs. NY again.
Diana has had an incredible career leading up to this point, but she’s not quite done yet! As Mrs. Greater Rochester 2023, Diana is excited to compete for Mrs. New York America on June 3 and 4, 2023. This opportunity allows Diana to expand her relationship with the Girl Scouts of America and Planet Fitness, where she works with teens and women to assist in growing their confidence.
What a better place to showcase the future Mrs. New York America’s origins than a shoot right here in her hometown? Diana is born and raised in Rochester, NY, so of course we had to showcase the beautiful city she’s from! For these photos, we headed downtown to my favorite parking garage (never thought I’d have a favorite parking garage, but here we are).
Congratulations, Diana! Rochester is lucky to have such a beautiful and intelligent woman representing us. Thank you, again, for continuing to allow me to capture your heart and soul. We’ll be rooting for you!
