It rained, it snowed, it hailed. But Fady had something up his sleeve (or in his pocket, rather), and he was ready to ask the love of his life to marry him with this dream proposal!
Fady reached out to me weeks prior to December 5th, expressing how he wanted to have this moment captured for him and his future fiancé to look back on for the years to come. I was over the moon excited to capture such a special moment in such a spectacular place! I wanted to elevate this experience for them in anyway I could. After Fady booked me, I immediately called my friend Shae who is experienced with videography. I asked her to be my right hand woman, and help me create a video of the proposal as well.
Fady and I planned all the nitty, gritty details and the excitement only grew for all of us as the day got closer!
Shae, my boyfriend, his friend, and myself all woke up at 6:30 am that morning to make the trek to Taughannock Falls State Park and get the proposal into motion. We began our walk to the base of the falls, and it started to hail! I began thinking to myself, “how is Fady going to get Emma to hike for 20 minutes in the hail?.” Well, little did I know, these two really roll with the punches. Shae and myself got into position, pretending to take photos of each other along the rocks nearby. Fady and Emma began to approach the falls.
They approached the spot Fady and I had discussed, and chatted for a few minutes, and snagged an iPhone selfie. This selfie has more meaning than you probably think.
Fady and Emma met during their time studying at Cornell University–and Taughannock Falls was where they shared their first date. He described taking a similar selfie with Emma on that date, and wanted to recreate it to remember this moment.
Fady then eased into a conversation that would change the rest of their lives. From afar, I was smiling ear to ear, eagerly waiting for that moment we have all been so excited for.
And then… it happened!
I’m over here still pinching myself looking at these photos. I feel so incredibly thankful that the universe led Fady to my inbox. I can’t believe I got to be the one capturing this moment!
A few months later, I got a call from Fady and Emma asking me to be their wedding photographer. I am so excited to capture their charming DC wedding this summer!
