One of my all-time favorite sentences: “I have an idea.” When Melissa and Dan were planning their engagement session, Pinterest was their best friend. Melissa came up with the idea for a picnic engagement session. She was so thoughtful when planning, from thrifted glasses to a fresh floral arrangement from her wedding florist! I love when couples have a fresh and creative idea for their session and Melissa and Dan did not disappoint!
Melissa and Dan have one of my favorite love stories. They met on the second day of college at St. John Fisher University in Rochester, NY. Both grew up in Buffalo, NY and just so happened to live in the same dorm at college. Years later, Dan proposed at Letchworth State Park on a cold winter day. Now, eight years have passed and Melissa and Dan are planning their wedding day. The true definition of “I’d marry you with paper rings.”
Melissa really thought out every aspect to this picnic engagement session. Whenever I can incorporate a champagne pop, I’m a happy photographer. Melissa brought the Veuve Cliquot, so I brought my excitement. The key to the perfect champagne pop photos is to open the bottle gently, then shake. The smiles that come from the shake and spray are iconic! And can we talk about these two feeding each other grapes?! I can’t wait to recreate this on their wedding day with cake!
Engagement photos are the ideal time to get that perfect “save the date” image. When selecting, you’ll want something classic and romantic, something Grandma would want on her fridge. I’m constantly working towards that iconic photo during your engagement session. Although this may be the case, I still love to incorporate some trendy blurred photos and spicy close-ups. You know, for your friends on Instagram (arguably more socially significant than the refrigerator-posted save the dates).
Thank you Melissa and Dan for bringing my picnic engagement session dreams into reality! I can’t wait to capture your special day next year. Oh, and adding this spot to my favorite locations list (the city views are bomb)! Cheers to forever!
