It’s time to celebrate your engagement with your engagement session! So, why is what you wear to your engagement session so important?
What you wear is a critical component in making your engagement session a dream come true! As obvious as it sounds–your outfits are in every photo!
My general go-to advice for outfit recommendations is to go for something neutral and earthy over something super bold and bright. We want your love to be the center of attention! Your clothing is meant to compliment you, not outshine you. Some neutral colors I’d recommend include tan, gray, black, white, brown, navy, dark green, or rust. The more earthy the color the better! It may also help to think about the season you will be taking your photos in. For example, a rust or tan would compliment the fall foliage nicely!
Another piece of advice I give when planning for your engagement session is to have two outfits ready–one more casual and one more dressed up. I usually recommend this so you can have some variety in your gallery. I like to tell my couples to dress as if they were going out for date-night at a nice restaurant. And then it gives you a great excuse to actually have date night after your session 😉.
Don’t forget about the shoes! A good amount of your photos will include your full body, so a good shoe is important! I recommend staying away from sneakers when possible. A more casual dress shoe is the way to go!
****A hack for the ladies–if you’re going to do a hair/makeup trial, make these appointments for the same day as your session! Make good use of your makeover!****
Aesthetics are everything, but so is your comfort! Ensure that what you’re wearing isn’t going to distract you from being fully immersed in the experience of your engagement session. Discomfort will show in your photos!
When in doubt, just ask your photographer! We love helping in anyway we can, and that includes styling for your sessions! Here’s a link to my Pinterest board that has some outfit inspo!
