Before I even met Jillian and Zach, I knew we would have an amazing session! During our consultation call, Jillian and I instantly clicked. I could tell we were about to make some magic during their beach engagement session!
These two lovebirds met in school at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY. After college, Jillian and Zach lived in Boston, MA for a few years, before coming back to start their life in Rochester, NY. Zach proposed in November of 2020 on a weekend vacation in the Catskills. After a chilly day, they warmed up by the fire and he popped the question! Of course, she said yes! Jillian’s stunning engagement ring was passed down from her grandmother, a family heirloom. She’s got her something borrowed, her something new, now she just needs something blue!
Meet Mooney! He’s so excited that his parents are finally tying the knot! Jill and Zach named him after the local bar in Ithaca where they met! I always adore when couples bring their furry friends to their sessions! If you know me, you know I love dogs of all breeds. However, unless the couple can bring a friend or family member, we may run into trouble monitoring their dog during solo shots. Jillian and Zach anticipated this hurdle and had a personal chauffeur for Mooney’s transportation needs. Pro Tip: Get yourself a doggy driver!
This engagement session took place at Durand Eastman Park in November. I couldn’t have asked for a more scenic spot! The colors of the leaves were absolutely perfect for an autumn-loving couple like Jillian and Zach. I am so excited to capture their love on their wedding day this October at Dutch Harvest Farm in Lansing, NY. Another opportunity for some amazing fall shots!
Jillian and Zach chose ideal outfits for their session! Both wore neutral colors that were fitting to the season. Typically, a neutral, plain outfit is recommended for outdoor sessions such as this. A simple outfit to accompany a busy backdrop achieves a perfect balance for timeless photos. Upon scheduling your engagement session, I’ll send out tips and tricks to ensure you choose the best outfit!
Considering these photos were taken in November in Western New York, I’m pretty impressed with the beach scenery! The warmth from the trees (and from these two) makes it hard to believe it was a cold day. Jillian and Zach were up for just about anything, they even dipped their toes in the chilly Lake Ontario water! And, I’m glad they did. Look how these images turned out!
