I have a few staples that I frequent, but am always exploring new places. Check these spots out; you might just find your dream destination!
For the Perfect Beachy Boho Engagement Session Location
Durand Eastman Park has it all: beach, boardwalk, and babes (well, the babes aren’t included, you’ll need to bring your own). But seriously, the vibes here are flowy dresses, untucked dress shirts, and toes in the sand. Just picture “Mamma Mia” in Summer and “The Notebook” in Fall. And even if your vibe doesn’t include a beach engagement session, Durand Eastman Park has other great nature spots to fit your aesthetic.
For a Classic Early-Century Location
Highland Park & Sunken Gardens is ideal for early-century stonework and gothic metal detailing. When early Winter hits, it gets challenging to find an outdoor engagement session location that still provides interesting landscape after the greenery has died off. This is my go-to late October and early November spot. The evergreens of Winter are just emerging at this time, so you won’t be completely lack of that late-Fall nature vibe! If you’ve read The Secret Garden (and loved it), this is your spot!
For a Modern City Lovers Engagement Session
Who would’ve thought that a parking garage would make a great engagement session location? Well, I’m here to tell you that parking garage shots are some of my most popular. Downtown Rochester is the best for a modern-day romance. Clean and classic outfits, especially black and white, really pop in this concrete jungle. High Falls adds some greenery and water to the landscape which, when paired with the city atmosphere, creates a perfect combo.
For the Ideal Nature Location
An underrated spot that I love to shoot at is Ellison Park in Brighton, NY. This park has the most glowy nature landscapes, perfect for easy-going lovers. This engagement session location is ideal at golden hour; the sun peeks through the trees for the most beautiful amber glow! It’s giving a Jo and Laurie kind of love (or Amy, depending on what team you’re on).
For a Cozy Indoor Engagement Session
What a better way to capture you two in your element than a cozy indoor session? Gallery 48 is a perfect location to show your life-long love: natural and ever-growing. This spot is filled with greenery and all sorts of props, from couches and a bed to the infamous Anthropologie mirror. So, come kick your shoes off and snuggle up with your new fiancé at Gallery 48!
